Profile:

I have been practicing within the field of occupational therapy since February 2012. I received my Bachelors in Family Studies and Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Texas Woman’s University. I am also a current BCBA candidate. I have worked in a variety of settings including home health, acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, and pediatrics. My passion lies in pediatrics with a special focus on the use of behavior analysis as a therapeutic tool for occupational therapy. I have worked for various sized corporations and non-profits alike. I am considerably new to the state of Alaska, having moved here from Texas in July 2013. My husband and I love Alaska and everything Alaska has to offer, although I don’t think we’ve had to deal with a full “hard winter”. I mostly enjoy all the fishing and “glamping” Alaska to offer. Although I have never held a treasurer position before, I feel that I have the experience and education to serve on the board for the AKOTA. I feel that I will learn much from the position itself and look forward to being a part of something that will assist my fellow state occupational therapy practitioners as we continue to develop our professional selves and adapt to our changing healthcare system.
