Continuing Education Guidelines

Guidelines for Documentation of Continuing Education Hours for Occupational Therapy License Renewal

Presentation of materials by authority in the field. Documentation by statement of sponsorship by professional organization or university or name and credentials of presenter(s).

Content of continuing education hours is applicable to the practice of occupational therapy either specific to that practitioner or the practice of occupational therapy in general. Documented by statement of course content or course objectives.

Hours of participation in continuing education experience. Documented by statement of numbers of hours of instruction, transcript or university credit or statement of continuing education units (CEUs) awarded by instructor.

Date and place of educational experience. Documented by statement of class date and place or transcript of university credit.

Participation in continuing education experience. Documented by transcript or statement of attendance.

Workshops and continuing education experiences sponsored by the Alaska Occupational Therapy Association, The American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc. or the World Federation of Occupational Therapy shall be recognized as having applicable course content and a presenter of authority.
Other continuing education hours shall be reviewed by the State Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Licensing Board or the Alaska Occupational Therapy Association.
